What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a health science which has been used to successfully treat both pain and dysfunction in the body for thousands of years. At first, Acupuncture appears strange; as it involves the placement of small needles in the skin at various locations to relieve pain or dysfunction of the affected body part.
How does it work?
Early Chinese practitioners discovered that there is an energy network throughout the human body just below the surface of the skin which connects the exterior with the internal organs and structures at over 1,000 points on the body. This energy network works in harmony with the body’s muscular, nervous, circulatory, digestive and other body systems. When this energy becomes blocked or weakened, there is an effect in a body system or at a particular anatomic location. Stimulation of one or more of the key points on the body may restore balance to the affected area. Acupuncture treatment not only targets the symptoms, but also the root of the problem, thus restoring health and wellness. It is an excellent addition to complement many of the treatments offered at Taylor Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.
